Rickey Lynn "Uncle" Wright, 57, of Amarillo died Monday, April 25, 2011.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.

Rickey was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Kermit and was raised in Pampa. He was a graduate of Pampa High School.

Rickey served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Ussery Roan Church at the Ussery Roan Texas Veterans Home.

Rickey really enjoyed his family. He was a wonderful father and a best friend to his son. He loved his grandchildren and letting them climb all over him.

Rickey was always known for his humor and pranks. He never met a stranger.

Rickey loved to dance, listen to music and read. He was everybody's uncle.

Rickey will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charles Wright and Marilyn Walker Wright.

Survivors include a son, James Wright and wife Gina of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Carson and Kelton Wright, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Lydia Renee Johnson and Tonya Gaye Wright, both of San Antonio; two nephews, Jeremy Johnson and wife Brenna of San Antonio and Jacob Dane Johnson of Amarillo; four nieces, Misty Dawn Snider and fiancee Phil Rourke of Conroe, Tressie Darlene Moler and husband Chris of Oregon, Crissy Dawn Haynes of San Antonio, and Sarah Renee Bohall and husband Seth of San Antonio; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

The family suggests memorials be to Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124.
