David Joe Fortin 

(June 24, 1954 - March 4, 2014)

David J. “Speedy” Fortin was born on June 24, 1954 in Pampa, TX to Joseph and Vernell Fortin. David went to meet his heavenly Father on March 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. He was in his home surrounded by family and lots of love.

David went to elementary and high school in Pampa and graduated in 1972. He worked many years in the oilfield. David married Sherri Grimsley on September 3, 1982. They lived in Pampa and Borger TX for many years and moved to Deerfield, KS in 1996. While in Kansas, he worked for Peterbilt of Garden City, KS. In 2005 they moved to Puyallup, WA and he began working for Valley Freightliner in Pacific, WA before his illness.

Speedy could always be found anywhere there was a pick-up baseball or football game, or just having a game of catch. He loved bowling, fishing, golfing and any kind of card game. He was also an avid sports card & memorabilia collector.

David is survived by 3 loving children and their spouses. Drew and Karena Grimsley of Amarillo, TX, Dusty and Kala Fortin of Sanford, NC and Kristy and Jayson Workman of Bonney Lake, WA. 6 beautiful grandchildren, Kenzi and Konnor Fortin and Spyncer, Bryce, Kylee Ann and Chayse Workman. Brothers Mike and June Fortin and Gary and Tammy Fortin of Amarillo, TX and sister Debbie and Greg Davis of Pampa, TX. Denyce Grimsley of VA, Johne Grimsley of CO, Nancy Kiehl and Karen and Van Moore of WA, Mary and Ron Oliver, Mike and Linda Grimsley and Janice and Craig Turrentine all of KS. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Vernell Fortin, wife’s parents James and Marie Grimsley, 3 brothers-in-law, Stan and Larry Grimsley and Gary Kiehl and 2 nephews Chris Turrentine and Joshua Blake.

A remembrance dinner and time to share will be March 14, 2014 at the Frontier Park Lodge located at 21800 Meridian Ave E., Graham, WA 98338 from 3pm-6pm.
